Kaohsiung CGMH ostomy nursing team, led by Director Hsing-Fang Ko, delivers patient-centered ostomy care. 2020 ostomy patients: 409 (second only to Linkou CGMH), including 269 rectal cancer surgeries (65.7%) and 91 colostomies (33.8%), with 20 permanent (22%) and 71 temporary (78%). Approximately 10% of Taiwan's colorectal cancer patients are treated here. The team's training course, designed around Kyushu University's five core competencies for wound-ostomy-continence nurses, achieves 100% attendance. Established case management workflow with stoma positioning SOP; nurses initiate evidence-based care within 8 hours; SACS™ Tool for peristomal skin assessment; PONS Score for rapid nutrition screening. Innovations: (1) world-first "implantable artificial colostomy device" co-developed with NKNU and the Metal Industries Research and Development Center (2020 National Innovation Award); (2) Taiwan-first "smart post-op ostomy tracking system" with new utility patent and NT$436,632 CGMH research grant—free on Google Play. Outcomes: peristomal dermatitis 8.3% (Taiwan 21%, UK 32.3%, USA 36.3%); post-closure infection 1.85% (Asia 2-4%); QoL total 105.5 (Asia 56.54, Canada 53, Latin America 58.7); self-care total 24 (USA 11). Won 2020 NHQA Theme Improvement Elite Bronze and 2020 National Innovation Awards.
