Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Molecular Imaging Center, led by Director Tzu-Chen Yen, built the "Locomotive of Biomedical Technology." Team comprises 10 physicians (1 professor, 1 associate, 4 assistant, 2 lecturers, 1 general, 1 physician-scientist), 6 radiologic technologists (2 master's), 2 cyclotron operators, 1 medical physicist, 5 researchers (1 master's, 4 PhDs), 4 joint associate researchers. Equipment: 2 PET scanners, 2 cyclotrons; animal imaging lab with Animal SPECT/CT, Animal PET, 7T Animal MRI. Development areas: center-initiated, collaborated, and core service imaging projects. Safety & Quality: USA Clinical Trials Network certified institution; in-house redesigned Sumitomo synthesizer for 18F-AV133 (Parkinson's) and 18F-AV45 (dementia) synthesis modules—world-first. Clinical features: (1) Oral cancer research changed US AJCC cancer staging guidelines (Cancer 2006, Oral Oncol 2007); (2) NPC research changed US NCCN 2006 treatment guidelines; (3) Cervical & H&N cancer research changed US CMS reimbursement standards. PET targeted novel drugs: 18F-AV-45 (FDA-approved Amyvid for dementia), 18F-AV-133 (earliest worldwide for Parkinson's), 18F-RGD-K5 (world first-in-human study in H&N cancer, with Siemens/PETNET). PubMed 2003-2012: 94 publications (exceeds Peking Union 21, U Tokyo 55, Cambridge 102, MD Anderson 95).
