Description

Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, led by Prof. Feng-Fu Chou, built the "From Black and White to Color" endocrine surgical team for renal failure patients with SHPT. The team is committed to innovative medical technology, academic publications, surgical technique inheritance, and elevating standards. Standardized tissue specimen cryopreservation (4°C → RPMI freezing solution → overnight → liquid nitrogen). Innovative discoveries: (1) Post-op muscle strength increase 40% (Arch Surg 1999); (2) World-first finding of increased muscle force, unchanged motor nerve conduction velocity, increased CMAP after PTX (Acta Neurol Scand 2002); (3) Reduced calcium-phosphorus product improves pruritus post-op (J Am Coll Surg 2000); (4) Surgery improves anemia (Blood Purif 2003); (5) World-first paper on sexual function improvement (J Am Coll Surg 2001); (6) World-first paper on parathyroidectomy and sperm motility (J Am Coll Surg 2003); (7) Post-op sleep quality improvement (Surgery 2005); (8) World-first paper on cognitive improvement (Surgery 2008); (9) Major BMD improvement led to T-score <-2.5 as surgical indication (Arch Surg 2001); (10) Post-op hypoparathyroidism has no adverse effects (World J Surg 2010); (11) PTX followed by kidney transplant improves BMD (Transplantation 2008). Innovative technique: First subcutaneous forearm autotransplantation, replacing traditional intramuscular technique (Surgery 1998). Research tracked by BioMedLib; multiple papers internationally cited.
