Clinical Care and Liver Transplant Nursing Team As of August 31, 2006, our liver transplant team had completed 378 liver transplant surgeries, including 274 living-donor liver transplantations. All donors recovered well and returned to work. The one-year and five-year survival rates of recipients were 96% and 92%, respectively. Since 2000, living-donor liver transplantation has become a routine weekly surgery, while maintaining one of the highest survival rates worldwide. Among 100 pediatric patients with biliary atresia, the five-year survival rate reached 98%. Currently, about 5 to 6 liver transplant surgeries are performed each month. The liver transplant nursing team provides preoperative, intraoperative, postoperative, and critical care for patients undergoing liver transplantation or liver surgery, as well as those with fulminant hepatitis or end-stage liver disease. The team has 83 members, including nurse practitioners, organ donation coordinators, and nurses from the ICU, transplant ward, operating room, and joint outpatient clinic. Through complete records, ethical clinical research, patient education, discharge preparation, and interdisciplinary teamwork, the nursing team continuously improves care quality and delivers patient-centered liver transplant care.
