Premature infants (birth weight <1500g or gestational age <32 weeks)
Infants with retinopathy of prematurity
Children with special visual disabilities
In Taiwan, approximately 10% of the 140,000 newborns born annually are premature infants. Retinopathy of prematurity is a leading cause of blindness in infants and young children, with severity classified into five stages. Over 95% of stage 5 ROP patients will have no light perception without surgery. Since its establishment in 2006, the center has served thousands of premature infants, with over 2,600 consultations and screenings in the past decade, establishing itself as Taiwan's premier referral center for ROP care.

Severe stage 4 and 5 ROP patients requiring surgery in the US cost approximately 2 million NTD per vitrectomy; the center has performed 100 surgeries, saving at least 200 million NTD for the nation
Successfully treating 100 patients who would otherwise require lifelong government support of approximately 5,000 NTD monthly until age 80 (total 4.4 million NTD per patient), the center has saved 444 million NTD for the nation
