Description

  • Open dental clinics for people with special needs to improve the accessibility of dental care for people with special needs, so that people with special needs can receive the same medical services same as the general public.

  • Center organizes education courses on dental medical services for people with special needs, train human resources such as oral preventive care and oral health care for people with special needs, and improve the willingness of medical practitioners to perform medical services for people with special needs.

  • Center expand the oral health care behavior management model for people with special needs, and training dentists, dental medical assistants, medical staff and caregivers to assist people with special needs in tooth cleaning techniques and oral health education and health promotion

  • Center establish an oral care network model for people with special needs, combine government resources, primary medical institutions, early treatment centers, social welfare groups, private forces and other units to implement a referral and medical grading system for primary medical institutions. It is hoped that through the implementation of this plan, the human resources for primary care for people with special needs will be strengthened.


Key Highlights

Disabled Patient Oral Health Care Center of ShuangHe Hospital provides cross-disciplinary comprehensive oral care, including in-hospital services and out-of-hospital services.

In-hospital services: The consultation process of the Oral Health Care Center for People with Special Needs starts with making an appointment by phone or on-website registration, followed by filling in medical records, consultation, and then oral examination and recording. Dental treatment begins after the attending physician explains the treatment plan. Dental treatment includes outpatient treatment, Restraint treatment, Intravenous Anesthesia and General Anesthesia.

Out-of-hospital services: divided into institutional health education and screening, medical groups and in-home medical care.

Since its opening, Disabled Patient Oral Health Care Center of ShuangHe Hospital has served more than 110,000 people.

Service quality:

As of August 2024, the center served nearly 113,000 patients with special needs.

As of August 2024, the center has performed 1,555 surgical treatments under General Anesthesia and 3,542 surgical treatments under Intravenous Anesthesia.

As for the center's outreach services, the Quchi Home for the Elderly has served 596 people; the Genesis Social Welfare Foundation has served 265 people; and the home-based medical service has served 162 people.

The incidence of side effects or complications of general anesthesia was 0% in 2010, 0% in 2010, 1.04% in 2010, 1.65% in 2011, and 0.81% in 2012; the incidence of side effects or complications in sedation and anesthesia was 0% in 2010 and 0.63 in 2010. %, 0% in 110 years, 0.48% in 111 years, and 0% in 112 years.
