NTUH Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Center, led by Dr. Chueh-Hung Wu, serves as Taiwan's largest and the only MSK-ultrasound center recognized by the Joint Commission of Taiwan (2015), with dual diagnostic-therapeutic focus. While X-ray cannot show soft tissue and MRI involves long waits, this center provides real-time ultrasound with guided intervention: 2025 examinations 9,189, injections 4,883. Four world-first innovations: (1) earliest application to dysphagia evaluation, with modified probes measuring hyoid bone, thyroid cartilage, and tongue motion; (2) since 2011 published ultrasound elastography in Radiology (IF 11.105); (3) world-first ultrasound-guided injection animal model for entrapment neuropathy; (4) Taiwan's earliest systematic graded ultrasound teaching. Supraspinatus tear accuracy 91%; guided injection efficacy 81%; guided treatment infection rate 0%. Authored the world's first Chinese MSK ultrasound textbook, 4 English textbooks, and co-authored European reference texts.The center published 262 ultrasound-related papers (2011–2020), significantly outperforming Mayo Clinic (72), Seoul National University (26), and Rutgers (11). Academic outreach includes 26 invited international lectures in 2017 and a featured global interview on the Radiology Video Podcast.
