Target Population

  • Patients with Helicobacter pylori infection

  • Those intolerant to oral antibiotics

  • Patients failing oral antibiotic therapy

  • Patients with dysphagia

  • High antibiotic resistance risk patients

Description

Helicobacter pylori has a global infection rate of about 50%, causing gastritis, peptic ulcers, gastric adenocarcinoma, and lymphoma. Traditional oral antibiotic therapy requires high doses, multiple types, and a 2-week regimen with ~50% side effects and antibiotic resistance risk. MacKay Memorial Hospital developed the world's first Intraluminal Therapy for H. pylori Infection (ILTHPI), obtaining a U.S. patent in 2021. During gastroscopy, a single dose (with intragastric pH control, mucolytic irrigation, and antimicrobial agent) can simultaneously eradicate H. pylori within 8-10 minutes. The therapy is safe, fast, effective, with only 2.9% side effects, no liver/kidney damage, and avoids secondary antibiotic resistance. From 2018-2023, 538 patients received ILTHPI, with triple antibiotics and pH control achieving 84.6% success. Results published in J Gastroenterol Hepatol, J Clin Med, Microorganisms, Biomedicines.
