This ward (acute psychiatric ward) adheres to the mission of Mackay Hospital: to provide holistic treatment of body, mind, and spirit in the spirit of Jesus Christ to love others as ourselves and to care for the vulnerable, to achieve the purpose of medical evangelism, and to become the most popular psychiatric unit A medical center trusted by the community, it is centered on psychiatric patients, and through interprofessional practice and resource integration, its members include: doctors, nurses, psychologists, and social workers. Every Thursday, interprofessional practice discussions will be held to discuss suicide patients in the hospital. Discussions are made where team integration assistance is needed, and timely referrals are made. Services include: admission and treatment at suicide prevention centers, individual treatment by medical staff, and telephone consultation after discharge. In addition, theory and clinical equipment for preventing patient suicide are also combined. providing complete dialectical behavioral therapy skill exercises for patients who have repeatedly committed suicide, reducing depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and the number of self-injury, and further improving the quality of life.

In November 2012, our psychiatric team of MMH went to Fiji to figure out the actual situation there. In June 2014, out hospital sent a delegation of 5 people to Fiji again to coordinate and communicate with various government and private units. Mackay Psychiatric Department and ICDF participated together to improve the mental medical services of Fiji. And assisted Fiji in establishing the Fiji Suicide Prevention Center.
This act can be said to be the first time in Taiwan’s medical history that mental health care has been used to assist a foreign country in improving overall mental health care services.
