Patients with thyroid tumor
Thyroid cancer ranks 7th among Taiwan's top ten cancers, with rising incidence in women and younger populations. To meet this demand, Taichung Tzu Chi Hospital’s Department of Otolaryngology established a same-day, same-floor "One-Stop Precision Diagnosis Model." This model integrates history inquiries, physical exams, ultrasound, fine-needle aspiration (FNA), nasopharyngeal endoscopy, and blood tests.
Our team offers diverse treatment strategies tailored to clinical guidelines and patient needs. Options include non-surgical Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) and advanced minimally invasive surgeries: Minimally Invasive Video-Assisted Thyroidectomy (MIVAT), Bilateral Axillo-Breast Approach (BABA) robotic surgery, and Transoral Endoscopic Thyroidectomy Vestibular Approach (TOETVA).
For surgical safety, we combine 4K high-resolution endoscopy with intraoperative neuromonitoring and ICG imaging to protect laryngeal nerves and parathyroid glands. Our department has achieved a 99% nerve preservation rate and a 92% parathyroid preservation rate. This excellence drove steady growth in surgical volume, rising from 148 cases in 2022 to 196 cases in 2024. Patient satisfaction reflects this quality, with the 3-month post-surgery satisfaction rate reaching 98% in 2024. We remain committed to delivering a precise, safe therapeutic experience through evolving medical quality.
One-Stop Precision Diagnosis: Integrates medical history, ultrasound, fine-needle aspiration (FNA), endoscopy, and blood tests—all completed on the same day and on the same floor, significantly enhancing diagnostic efficiency.
Diverse Personalized Treatments: Offers cutting-edge minimally invasive surgeries, including MIVAT, BABA, and TOETVA, alongside non-surgical Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) to precisely meet individual patient needs.
Surgical Safety and Clinical Excellence: Utilizes intraoperative neuromonitoring and ICG imaging systems to achieve a 99% nerve preservation rate and a 92% parathyroid preservation rate; surgical volume grew to 196 cases in 2024, with a post-operative satisfaction rate of 98%.
The annual volume of thyroid surgeries has shown steady growth, increasing from 148 cases in 2022 and 169 cases in 2023 to 196 cases in 2024.
