On September 19, 2003, Taipei Veterans General Hospital performed Taiwan’s first pancreas transplantation, becoming the first medical center in Taiwan to receive approval for a clinical pancreas transplantation program. The hospital was also accredited by the Department of Health to perform both pancreas procurement and transplantation procedures.
