All hemodialysis patients (outpatient, inpatient and temporary dialysis); medical staff (physicians and nurses); and domestic/international institutions visiting for benchmarking.
Computerization at Kuang Tien General Hospital began in 1986. Since 2008, cloud computing has supported smart hospital initiatives. Through Android PDA/tablets, wireless Bluetooth, NFC, RFID patient identification, and Wi-Fi, we built a new generation intelligent hemodialysis system. With IoT and M2M concepts, automatic data transfer from dialysis machines to mobile devices replaces manual transcription and paperwork. Every step from patient treatment to nursing care and ward duties uses mobile devices, with quality indicators monitoring care quality, significantly enhancing patient safety, medical quality and operational efficiency.
Patient Safety: RFID + APP for patient identification and access control; automated weight measurement and dehydration calculation; blood transfusion verification APP; fall assessment APP; critical value notification APP. 2. Infection Control: Hepatitis B/C bed zoning with active lab report cross-checking. 3. Medical-Nursing Communication: Real-time APP push notifications when physicians modify prescriptions; same-day lab reports instantly notified. 4. Operational Efficiency: M2M with wireless Bluetooth transmits dialysis machine and BP monitor data to PDA replacing manual transcription. 5. System execution rate 100% (outpatient, inpatient, temporary all included). 6. ISO27001 certified since 2009 with 100% external audit pass; SSL encryption and MAC address control.
Dehydration calculation 100% accuracy; blood transfusion verification 100% accuracy; zero-delay lab report notification (reading time reduced from 35 to 4.6 minutes); ISO27001 certified; 100% external audit pass; APP download management and device network access control.
System execution rate 100%; nursing workflow efficiency improved 48.6% (40 minutes per patient saved); monthly routine work for group leaders improved 75.3% (3.73 to 0.92 hours); monthly statistical analysis improved 85% (1200 to 180 seconds).
Integrates Android PDA, tablets, scale-mounted tablets, RFID cards, wireless Bluetooth, NFC, Wi-Fi local network; M2M data transmission with dialysis and BP machines; hospital-wide wireless coverage including ICU; tablets for physician rounds and PDAs for nursing staff.
Development team led by Deputy Superintendent, Director of Management Center, Director and Attending Physicians of Nephrology, Deputy Director of Nursing, and Director of IT. 17 cross-disciplinary members include IT specialists, section chiefs, group leaders, system engineers, programmers, nursing supervisors. Standardized workflows using ECRS (Eliminate, Combine, Rearrange, Simplify) techniques.
Overall nursing staff satisfaction 83.6 (Likert 5-point scale); system usefulness satisfaction 87; patient safety satisfaction 86.7.
