Description

For years, Shuang Ho Hospital has aligned itself with the government's medical diplomacy policy. In accordance with the "Palau Declaration"—signed in 2006 between Taiwan and its diplomatic allies in the South Pacific—the hospital launched the "Taiwan Health Center Project in the Republic of the Marshall Islands" in 2013. By dispatching medical personnel to serve in the Marshall Islands, a diplomatic ally, the hospital leverages its strengths in healthcare to deepen positive interactions and cooperative ties with the host nation, thereby highlighting Taiwan's significant role in international health assistance.

  • On-site medical services: Short-term medical personnel (totaling approximately 83 person-months) were deployed to provide consultations and training, performing 351 surgeries and serving over 8,000 patients.

  • Telemedicine: Conducted 204 sessions covering case discussions, educational activities, clinical consultations, and professional exchanges; provided consultations for 75 complex cases.

  • Patient referrals to Taiwan: 1,243 cases.

  • Total community service encounters: 49,349.

  • Screenings: 11,641 individuals screened; over 1,500 referrals made.

  • Nutrition education activities: 16,976 participants.
