20-80 yo KL≧II osteoarthritis patients
VAS≧4, BMI 18-35 OA patients
Complete cervical/thoracic SCI (ASIA A/B)
Post-injury 1-12 months with normal renal/hepatic function
China Medical University Hospital uses autologous bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) to treat two difficult diseases: knee osteoarthritis (KOA) and spinal cord injury (SCI). Knee treatment uses intra-articular injection with two doses per course (5×10⁷ cells/2ml) at 6-8 week intervals, unilateral or bilateral. SCI treatment uses intrathecal multi-dose injection combined with advanced MRI/fMRI imaging for quantitative assessment. Clinical data shows significant VAS and WOMAC improvement at 9 weeks, sustained to 12 months; MRI T2 mapping shows improved cartilage water content. KOA: 54 patients, 90 knees, zero SAE. SCI: 57.14% (4/7) ISNCSCI motor improvement (vs Korean trial 12.5%). One of few Taiwan teams with both indications, outperforming Spain, Australia, Korea benchmarks.
Autologous BM-MSCs, low immune rejection
High-cell-count multi-dose injection strategy
Advanced MRI T2 mapping quantitative assessment
Spinal/cerebral functional imaging for SCI
Both KOA and SCI indications
Few Taiwan teams with both indications
