Thyroid/parotid tumor surgery candidates
Cervical cystic lesions (e.g., lymphatic malformations)
Head & neck cancer patients needing neck dissection
All ages seeking a scarless approach
Our hospital has introduced the da Vinci robotic surgical system as a key platform for minimally invasive and precision surgery across multiple specialties. The Department of Otolaryngology leverages this system to develop “scarless neck” procedures for selected cases involving benign or malignant thyroid, parotid, and other neck tumors/lesions that require meticulous dissection and functional preservation. By using transhairline or retroauricular concealed incisions together with a magnified three-dimensional view and stable instrument control, the team enhances identification and protection of critical neurovascular structures, reduces visible cervical scarring and the associated psychological burden, while maintaining surgical safety, oncologic completeness, and postoperative quality of life. This service covers patients from pediatric to adult populations and provides individualized care centered on both cosmetic and functional needs.
Transhairline or retroauricular approach with the da Vinci system: concealed incision for improved cosmetic outcomes
Magnified 3D precision surgery: enhanced identification and protection of critical neurovascular structures
All-age platform (pediatric to adult; Taiwan’s only): comprehensive scarless-neck surgical service
Hybrid OR integration (intervention + resection): streamlined management for complex, high-risk cases
As of May 2025, our team has performed over 700 da Vinci robotic surgeries.
From 2014 to May 2025, a total of 51 “scarless neck” procedures have been performed.
Pediatric patients with cervical lymphangioma ranged in age from 3 months to 11 years.
