Target Population

The service targets children and adolescents aged 0 to 18 requiring ER or inpatient care , alongside infants under 3 months, premature babies, and healthy newborns born at the hospital.

Description

The specialized pediatric care team is known as the most completely equipped pediatric training hospital in the Chiayi and Yunlin areas, with a total of 18 specialized faculty doctors (specializing in ER pediatrics, neonatology, critical care, allergies, kidneys, infections, cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, the endocrine system, and surgery), 6 resident doctors, and 13 nurse practitioners. There is a total of 81 nursing staff, all of whom are graduate specialists holding PALS, APLS, or NRP certification, with an average experience in pediatric nursing of 8.6years. CYCH provides the Chiayi and Yunlin areas with a range of holistic, family-oriented pediatric ER care services, ranging from integrated mother-child labor services to independent pediatric ER services, and the development of specialized, rapid holistic emergency care, where experienced nurses trained in specialized pediatric care provide humane, safe in-patient care. Additionally, the infant intensive care unit emphasizes family-oriented holistic care for critical illnesses, and an effective premature birth management system has been established, with regularly increased service quality monitoring targets, ensuring that CYCH provides a cradle in which prematurely born infants can grow.

Key Highlights

Independent Pediatric ER & Dedicated Team :We offer a rare independent pediatric ER space in the Yunlin-Chiayi area. The team features 18 specialists, 6 residents, 13 NPs, and 81 pediatric nurses (average tenure: 8.6 years) who are 100% certified in PALS, APLS, or NRP.

Mother-Infant Dyad & Continuous Postpartum Care:We promote rooming-in and a seamless care continuum from prenatal visits and classes to postpartum wards. Support includes a 24-hour breastfeeding hotline, post-discharge community follow-ups, and monthly support groups.

Family-Centered & Child-Friendly Design:We provide tailored care for different developmental stages (e.g., infant cribs, preschool play therapy, and teen privacy). The environment features cartoon decor and play areas, with nurses wearing cute aprons to reduce children's anxiety.

Multi-Specialty TRM & Evidence-Based Nursing:Using Team Resource Management (TRM), we run cross-department consultations for complex cases like preemies, severe enterovirus, or pneumococcal infections. Clinical care, administration, and teaching are all based on Evidence-Based Nursing (EBN).

Vulnerable Groups & Community Care:We operate an Early Intervention Center with mobile vans for remote areas, and the "Star-Love Center"—the region's first autism day ward. We also partner with SOS International for global transfers of critical cases and provide free newborn hearing screenings.
