Postpartum Mothers, Infants, and Families with Newborns
Pregnancy and childbirth are important and unforgettable experiences for many women; however, the postpartum period is often accompanied by physical and psychological challenges. Research indicates that during the early postpartum period, mothers primarily focus on their basic physiological needs, physical recovery, childcare, and the arrangement of support systems. Comprehensive, continuous, and family-centered postpartum care aims to provide sustained and holistic support throughout the entire postpartum recovery period. This model emphasizes appropriate support and guidance at different stages of the postpartum period, including the identification and management of postpartum anxiety or depression and the provision of necessary psychological counseling and support. It offers comprehensive support and care for newborn families, providing education on newborn care, parenting skills, and ensuring that families have the confidence to care for their newborns. It assists family members in smoothly adapting to new life and roles. At this critical time, considering all the needs of the mother and baby, from physical, emotional to psychological aspects, and providing comprehensive, continuous, and family-centered care is of utmost importance.
