The St. Camille Palliative Care Team at St. Camille Hospital, Luodong, Catholic Healing Society, provides a one-stop palliative care service, including inpatient palliative care (St. Camille Ward), communal palliative care, and home-based palliative care. Their services extend to rural areas, indigenous communities, and orthodontic institutions, and also include bereaved family care and therapy dog services, embodying the concept of euthanasia at home.
Anhan One-Stop Care: Anhan Inpatient Care, Anhan Co-care, Anhan Home Care • Home Care Services: Equipped with 2 dedicated mobile medical vehicles, no travel distance restrictions within the county, and free transportation. • Rural Services: Serving remote areas such as Nan'ao and Datong. • Anhan Orthopedic Institutions: Prison Anhan Palliative Care Outpatient Clinic • Bereaved Families Care: • Therapy Dog Jungle: Introduced in 2013, permanently stationed in the Anhan ward. • Religious Integration: A prayer room and Buddhist hall are available; priests and monks provide home care. • Home-Based Medical Care: Physicians provide home-based treatment, such as ultrasound-guided ascites drainage.
In 2023, the number of home-based hospice care visits doubled. • Doctor visits increased 6-8 times in 2023. • 80% of patients died peacefully at home. • Hospice care beds: 15 • Hospice home care vehicles: 3
Through hospice and palliative care specialist training, it became the first specialist training hospital within the Catholic system. • Introduced Jungle, a therapy dog (the second resident hospice ward in Taiwan). • Received an award for continuous quality control from 2017 to 2022.
