Cancer patients with stable condition and independent in daily living
Since 2022, the HOPE Foundation for Cancer Care has promoted the “Post-Cancer Health Promotion Empowerment Program: Exercise Prescription,” integrating exercise and nutritional interventions to help cancer survivors regain physical function, reduce fatigue, and improve quality of life after treatment. The program was designed based on international guidelines, including those from ACSM and NCCN, and adapted to the needs of Taiwanese patients. It features a 12-week strength training and nutrition intervention model, more than 350 participants to date, showing an average 9% improvement in physical fitness and a 4% increase in quality of life.
To improve the accessibility of exercise for cancer patients and enable them to safely and systematically enhance their physical fitness, the program established a “Certified Cancer Exercise Specialist” and a national database. As of 2025, more than 110 certified exercise specialist have been trained and are active across 18 cities in Taiwan. In addition, the program also developed 25 online educational videos and pamphlets to strengthen digital support and accessibility. Its outcomes have been presented at the 2024 UICC World Cancer Congress and the 2025 Taiwan Joint Cancer Conference (TJCC), receiving international recognition. Looking ahead, the program aims to expand across all cities and counties in Taiwan and establish a cancer survivorship model that is accessible, sustainable, and scalable.
